The Fume Control Experts - AirClean Systems
Independence Ductless Fume Hood

AirSafe™ TOUCH Automatic Safety Controller

All operational features can be accessed from the two MAIN CONTROLS screens.

Independence™ ductless fume hood incorporates the first color touch screen controller on a laboratory fume hood. Independence™ AirSafe™ TOUCH allows approved operators to set, monitor and control all operational and safety features.

The MAIN CONTROL screen has three primary informational areas for Independence™ system information and control.

Informational Area 1 provides blower condition, gas fixture status, electrical outlet status and current logged in user by visual indication of written text. During alarms, this area changes color from blue to red.

Informational Area 2 displays the quick keys, face velocity in either LFM or M/s and gas detection level in PPM. The quick keys allow the approved operator to move easily between approved modes within Independence™.

Informational Area 3 displays the mode/screen that Independence™ is currently in, the time and date, and a home key that will quickly return the user to the main control screen.

Quick Keys

AirSafe™ TOUCH automatic safety controller allows for one-touch control of all critical Independence™ functions and safety features. Incorporated in the touch screen safety controller are quick keys that allow approved users to view and modify settings for optimum performance and safety.

Blower - Quick key to manually start and stop blower. Approved access level operators can set blower to one of three modes: Manual, Automatic and High/Low. Manual mode is simply a percent of blower capacity, Automatic mode sets desired face velocity that can be entered using the touch screen, and HIGH/LOW is percentage of blower output at specific sash openings defined in user setup.

Light - Turns fluorescent light on or off within Independence™.

Filter Type - Quick key to allow easy access to installed filtration package, including gas phase, particulate and pre-filtration.

Shutdown - Quick key designed to safely shutdown Independence™ at the end of an experiment or work day. This key directs the approved operator to confirm shutdown; if accepted a post-purge cycle will begin. If shutdown is not confirmed the previous home screen will be displayed.

Change User - Allows a different approved operator to login. A valid user access code is required to change users.

Gas Detector - Quick key access displays current gas detector reading in PPM, reference chemical for alarm indication and point at which the alarm will alert user of gas phase filtration saturation.

Help - The Help quick key is present on every mode screen. The HELP quick key provides a tutorial of how the mode works.

Application - Approved application details are present for the current installed filtration package within Independence™. Depending on operator access level, chemicals can be checked within the chemical reference library and be added to the Independence™ approved application.

Lab Event Timer - A digital countdown lab event timer may be accessed by the operator and used to time general lab functions. An elapsed time counter is also accessible to allow for timing of experiments or reactions.

Energy Consumption Meter - This quick key accesses the log of energy consumption by Independence™. The last day, week, month and year, as well as total lifetime energy consumption are displayed.

System Data - Quick key access to Independence™ serial number, software version and hour meters for system run time, blower run time, light burn time, outlets use time, burning gas use time and sash motor use time. This quick key provides an overview of all historical hood data (excluding energy use).

Hood Temperature - Display of ductless fume hood temperature in two positions: chamber and filtration housing.

Alarm Status - Display of all alarms within Independence™ and the status of each alarm.

LCD Brightness - Access to increase or decrease the intensity of the LCD screen.

Setup - Accessible only at Level 3, this quick key gives access to numerous administrative functions including alarm settings, application changes, filter changes, user setup and unit/language changes.

Burning Gas - This quick key is only accessible to approved users. If this quick key is active at Level 2, the user can choose manual control over the burning gas fixture or timed control. User can set timed control to desired length. Level 3 user has full access to gas fixture modes.

Electrical Outlets - This quick key is only accessible to approved users. If this quick key is active at Level 2, the user can choose manual control over electrical outlet or timed control. User can set timed control to desired length. Level 3 user has full access to electrical outlet modes.

Comms - Quick key that allows user to access and setup communication with external computers or hand-held devices.
