This heavy energy use is due to the high volume of heated and cooled air which is removed from the lab by traditional exhaust fume hoods.
A green fume hood like the AC4000 (pictured at left) safely eliminates toxins from the air stream and returns clean air back into the laboratory space, without the need for external ducting and costly HVAC units required by a total exhaust hood.
